This image started as as constrained drawing assignment: Take a pillow, bind it with something and draw. Doing this I found my perception imposing conceptual forms on the shapes, seeing birds and distorted human forms. Which made me think of the surrealist work of Hans Bellmer, in particular his disturging Dolls. I fooled around with various iterations of this train of thought, including the following painting.
